National School

Maths Week

We had a very enjoyable and successful Maths week again this year in Rushall NS. Our school had a wide range of things to do for our students to be involved in.
Maths Week

All students participated in many different activities. We put our Maths eyes on everyday, turning everyday items into a Maths discussion. This provided ample amount of talk and discussion among the pupils.

We used lots of concrete materials and paired up with friends from different classes to complete activities using the Maths strands.

We had the opportunity to challenge our Mental Maths skills on our Chrome Books using a very exciting programme called Numbots. Numbots is all about every child achieving the "triple win" of understanding, recall and fluency in mental addition and subtraction, so that they move from counting to calculating. Pupils level of engagement was very exciting to see.

On completion of Maths week the pupils filled in their Maths journal outlining what they enjoyed about the week. Lots of positivity towards Maths was clearly evident.

Well done to all involved!!!

On Pancake Day, all students eagerly awaited their turn to decorate their pancakes with toppings of their choice. From chocolate spread to juicy strawberries, homemade honey the possibilities were endless!
We had an amazing opportunity to welcome a special guest speaker, Mr. Kenneally from the Heritage Council of Ireland, who is an expert on birds of prey.
All students at our school had a fantastic time celebrating St. Brigid's Day. One of the highlights of the day was when the entire school gathered to make St Brigid's crosses using rushes.
