We had a great day out at Castlecomer Discovery Park (June 15th), and what a fantastic way to celebrate our senior room school tour! We left school early so that we could enjoy a full day of activities, and from the very start, everyone was excited to see what the day would bring.
Our first activity was orienteering. Dylan was our guide for the day, and he kept us busy with a few fun orienteering games before sending us off in three groups. Our challenge was to find either dot patterns or shapes, and there was certainly lots of running around! It was tiring at times, but it was great fun and everyone gave it their best effort.
Next, we moved on to archery. We had loads of time to practise, and we were lucky enough to work in pairs. As the hour went by, we could see our aim improving little by little. A huge well done to Therese and Ellie, who both hit a bullseye — what a brilliant achievement!
After all that activity, we were delighted to enjoy our tasty lunch in The Jarrow Restaurant. It was absolutely delicious and gave us the perfect chance to rest and chat about the morning’s adventures.
Finally, we tested ourselves on the Octagon. High up in the trees, across two levels, there were lots of activities to complete while balancing in the air. Everyone was super brave, and we are so proud of every pupil for giving it a go. Some people flew through the activities and loved reaching the highest points. Even Mr Monaghan went up and tackled some of the challenges!
After such a long day of fun and excitement, it was time to head home. A few people nodded off on the journey back, possibly dreaming of next year’s school tour.
