Rounders Cumann na mBunscol
On the 10th of June, we had our first rounders tournament day. I woke up early, ate eggs for breakfast, and finished packing my lunch. We were supposed to arrive at 9:10am, but I was a little late. We packed up the gear and cars, and headed off. Me, Rosie, Kian, Sean, Charlie and Sir were driving in Ms Conroys car to Emo Pitch for the games. We were all very excited.
Once we arrived at 10:00am, we got out gear, and set up a little area near the wall with our bags. We were warming up by throwing a ball, while me, the catcher and the bowler were practicing. We got our jerseys in order of who would be batting first, and had one sub per game. We were all ready and excited for our first game.
There were three different pools, A, B, and C with three teams on each pool. We were in pool A, along with Emo and Graiguecullen, pool B had Camross, Clonaslee and Holy Family A, and pool C had The Rock, Newtown and Holy Family B. Our first game was against Emo at 10:45, the mtach being delayed, and I was chosen for captain. I chose for us to bat first. We only batted once, while Emo batted twice. I was catcher for the games, and got a few people out. We won our first game, with a score of 5-1 to us. We were very happy with winning.
We took a break, and our second match was at 11:45, and we swapped out another sub. Our next match was against Graiguecullen, and Kian was chosen for captain. Since he lost the rock, paper, scissors against the other captain, we were fielding first. We were feeling good at the start of the match. We batted twice, and we won again with a score of 10-3 to us. We were happy with the score, and were swapping positions throughout the game.
Since we won all the games in our pool, we played against Camross from pool B for our last match at 12:45pm. We were feeling nervous. We swapped out a sub, and changing positions throughout the game. With some effort, we were able to beat them with us only batting, with a score of 14-6, Sean being our captain.
We were very happy with our wins today and were proud of our effort. We tried our best and won. We all enjoyed it and our other schoolmates being very proud when we got back to school. After some other teams play on Thursday, we will play in the semi final on Tuesday.
