No. 2 “Make the World a Better Place, and don’t destroy the Human Race”

The following steps have been taken to conserve Energy and to achieve our second flag.

  • Ceilings have been insulated and replaced, new doors and windows were fitted to conserve heat.
  • By using CFL bulbs and by turning off lights, projectors etc. during break and lunch times we conserve electricity.

In 2008 the ultimate goal was the replacement of the prefab with a solid structure and in 2013 this goal was realised with the building of a beautiful new extension. This has been a major advantage in reducing the cost of our electricity.

Anna Mackey ( Heritage in Schools Scheme) did four workshops with the children on the theme of Energy conservation. Areas such as Renewable/Non-Renewable Energy, Solar Power, wind and hydropower, food energy and food chains were discussed. She also worked on Green House Effect, climate change , draught proofing etc and solar panels, storage heating and thermostats.
