On Wednesday, 5th March, our 5th and 6th class had the exciting opportunity to visit Carlow for an Energy Workshop led by Robert Nelson from Green Schools - An Taisce. The day kicked off with an intriguing introduction to why energy is so important, highlighting its link to the Global Goals, particularly clean energy.
We were thrilled to participate in various interactive energy experiments that were both enjoyable and enlightening. The hands-on activities really kept us engaged and eager to learn more about energy conservation. After the experiments, we split into groups to design our "perfect energy school", which allowed our creativity to flow without worrying about costs!
Next, we collaborated on an Action Plan, brainstorming ways to reduce and save energy at school and at home. To cap off the workshop, we made pledges to lower our energy consumption. To add a fun twist, we crafted paper light bulbs and wrote our pledges on them, which we plan to bring back to our school so everyone can get involved and make their own pledges.
Before heading back, we were treated to a delicious lunch, making the day even more memorable!
