On March 27th, we had the pleasure of welcoming Enda from Midland Science to our school for an exciting day dedicated to exploring the wonders of science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM). The atmosphere was buzzing with enthusiasm as students engaged in hands-on activities that made learning both fun and memorable!
We dove into the fascinating world of magnets. Students explored the properties and uses of magnets, discovering how they interact with various materials. We investigated and experimented with electricity, testing simple magnetic and electrical creations. It was a fantastic opportunity for everyone to develop awareness of safety and real-world applications of these concepts.
With our 'science goggles' on, we examined our environment to identify everyday objects that are magnetic. We learned how to make things move by pushing and pulling, and how different surfaces can affect movement. The students were particularly intrigued by how forces can change the shape of objects, leading to discussions about gravity and friction.
One of the highlights of the day was building our own rollercoasters! Students worked in teams to design and construct tracks, applying their newfound knowledge of forces and motion. The creativity and teamwork displayed were truly inspiring.
Overall, the day was a resounding success, filled with excitement, learning, and a deeper appreciation for the science that surrounds us. We are grateful to Enda and Midland Science for making this experience possible and look forward to more exciting STEM adventures in the future!
